Swiss
Swiss vineyards, nestled in the heart of the Alps and bordered by lakes, offer a unique terroir and ideal conditions for viticulture. Switzerland boasts some 15,000 hectares of vineyards, mainly in four major regions. Although small in terms of wine-growing area, Switzerland is rich in diversity of grape varieties and landscapes. This wine-growing region is renowned for its authentic wines, often produced in small quantities using environmentally-friendly practices. Switzerland is also renowned for its indigenous grape varieties, such as Petite Arvine and Cornalin, and for its commitment to biodynamic and sustainable agriculture. Best known for its white wines, it also produces some excellent reds, particularly from varieties such as Pinot Noir and Syrah. Producers such as Marie-Thérèse Chappaz in Valais and the Cidrerie du Vulcain in Fribourg, with its Cidre de Fer and Brute de Rue cuvées, embody this tradition of excellence, preserving the terroir while offering authentic wines and ciders appreciated both locally and internationally.
